PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team took part in the Johnson & Wales University Open this past Sunday.
Luke Bokina (Mattituck, N.Y.) claimed third place at 149. He collected a pin over Donald Etheridge of Springfield before falling 10-4 to Marco Dominguez of Coast Guard. In the consolation bracket, Bokina took down Robert Grove of Harvard 3-0 and then defeated Paul Crane of USNAPS 4-2. After advancing to the third place match via forfeit, Bokina notched a 10-5 victory over Dominguez in a rematch to secure third place.
Sean Wieck (East Northport, N.Y.) earned fifth place on the day for RWU at 133. Wieck notched a pin and a 2-0 win in his first two matches of the day. Despite falling to Gregg Wert of USMAPS and Jacques St. Jean of Springfield, he earned the fifth place via forfeit.
Connor Meytrott (Montville, N.J.) had a pin as part of his three wins on the day at 149.
Seth Frohnheiser (Allentown, N.J.) grabbed two wins for the Hawks at 133 while
Andy Lombard (Monroe Township, N.J.) won one match at 141. Also picking up wins for RWU were
John Nieroda (West Suffield, Conn.) at 157,
Justin Garden (New Fairfield, Conn.) at 165.
