Men’s Soccer: Niall Shea Named Third Team Academic All-American by United Soccer Coaches

UNITED SOCCER COACHES RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Mo.
– The United Soccer Coaches released their Academic All-American teams, naming Niall Shea (Portsmouth, R.I.) of the Roger Williams University men's soccer team to the organization's third team.
 
The junior has compiled a 3.74 GPA as an engineering major.  The defender also served as a staple of the Hawks back line starting 21 games for the Hawks, as Roger Williams recorded 11 shutouts on the season.
 
Shea also had five assists on the season including assists on the game winning goals in matches at Bridgewater State (9/27), Suffolk (10/1), Gordon (10/29) in the CCC Quarterfinals, and Western New England (11/2) in the conference semifinals.
 
Roger Williams closed the season at 14-3-5 with a 6-2-1 record in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on their way to their first conference title since 2006.  The Hawks drew St. Lawrence in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament First Round, before falling on penalty kicks.
