KINGSTON, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Swimming & Diving team won their second-straight NEISDA crown, and fourth overall at the NEISDA Championships hosted by the University of Rhode Island over the weekend.
Ellie Field (Adams, Mass.) was superb, resetting her own program record in the 100- and 200-Yard Freestyle races on her way to seven combined first place finishes on the weekend.
RWU took first place out of the 14 schools in attendance, with an overall score of 1977, more than doubling up the second place Stonehill College squad that finished with a score of 984.
The Hawks received 69 All-NEISDA honors by finishing in the top-eight in a solo event or top-three in a relay. The team also took the top spot in 17 of the 23 swimming events and swept the relay races.
Field took the top spot in the 50, 100, and 200 Freestyle on her own, setting the meet record in the 100-Yard event. She also finished tied for second in the 50 Fly behind just her teammate,
Noelle Schneider (Plymouth, Mass.). Schneider herself swept through the Butterfly events, taking first in the 50-, 100-, and 200-Yard events.
Kate Wieler (Bourne, Mass.) took first place in three individual events as well, the 100 and 200 Backstroke and the 400 IM. Also winning individual championships for RWU were
Gabby Carr (West Tisbury, Mass.) in the 500 Free,
Victoria Greeman (Apple Valley, Minn.) in the 1650 Free, and
Kaley Youngcourt (Monroe, Conn.) in the 100 IM.
The championship-winning 800 Free Relay squad was comprised of Field, Wieler, Carr, and
Maggie Carroll (Albany, N.Y.) and they set the program record in that event. The 400 Free Relay team of Field, Wieler, Carr, and
Callie Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) also matched the program-record time. The Hawks also took the top spot in the 200 Free Relay with the unit of Sullivan, Schneider, Carroll, and Carr.
Wieler, Field, Schneider, and
Bella Kuzbek (Manitou Springs, Colo.) made up the 400 Medley Relay team. It was the same group for the 200 Medley Relay, with the exception of Youngcourt being in for Kuzbek.
