BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's and women's swimming teams are traveling down to Annapolis, Md. for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships hosted by Navy.
The Hawks are bringing seven swimmers from the women's team and 15 swimmers from the men's side down to Annapolis, with events beginning on Friday, Feb. 24.
On the women's side Avery Benigni (Meriden, Conn.) will race in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle, while also racing in the 100-yard butterfly. Gabby Carr (West Tisbury, Mass.) will also race the 50 and 100-yard freestyle as well as the 200-yard freestyle. Noelle Schneider (Plymouth, Mass.) rounds out the Roger Williams competitors in the 50-yard freestyle, and will also race in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly.
Ula Haller (Needham, Mass.) will race in the 400-yard IM, but will also make an appearance alongside Kate Wieler (Bourne, Mass.) in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke. Wieler also will compete in the 500-yard freestyle. Bella Kuzbek (Manitou Springs, Colo.) will race in the 200-IM and 100 and 200-breaststroke, and Sandy Remson (Norwalk, Conn.) will race in the 100 and 200-backstroke.
In the relays, the women's teams will see Schneider, Benigni, Haller, and Wieler will combine for the 200-yard freestyle relay, and will see Wieler, Kuzbek, Schneider, and Carr in the 400-yard medley relay. The 200-yard medley relay will see Remson traded in for Wieler, before the 400-medley freestyle team of Carr, Schneider, Wieler, and Benigni will close out the meet on the women's side.
On the men's side, Blake Anderson (Seekonk, Mass.) will race the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyle, with Bodie Ibrahim (Sunnyside, N.Y.), Ray Cerro (Southborough, Mass.), Ryan Duryea (Sag Harbor, N.Y.), Andrew Mungovan (Barrington, R.I.), Seth Sutton (Dumfries, Va.), and Vince Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y.) each swimming in the 50-yard freestyle. Duryea, Ibrahim, Mungovan, Sutton, and Tarolli all will also swim the 100-yard freestyle with Skip Holmes (Darmouth, Mass.), Ibrahim, Mungovan, Cooper Sever (Annapolis, Md.), Tarolli and Riley Williams (Arvada, Colo.) all swimming in the 200-freestyle.
Williams an NCAA Division III National Championship qualifier will also be swimming in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke.
Luke Austin (Essex, Vt.) takes point in the 200 and 400-yard IM, as well as an outing in the 200-yard butterfly. Cerro will also race in the 100-yard butterfly along with Ross Macy (Essex, Vt.) who will also swim in the 200-yard IM, and 200-yard backstroke. James McClaren (Bridgewater, Mass.) will highlight the 500-yard freestyle, 400-yard IM, and 1650-yard freestyle.
The Hawks will also field teams for every relay event throughout the weekend.
Roger Williams will begin ECAC Championship competition at 10 am on Friday, Feb. 24 and competition will continue until Sunday, Feb. 26.
