NEW LONDON, CONN. – The Roger Williams women's cross country team will be traveling to New London, Conn. to race in the 2024 Mideast Regional event hosted by Conn. College on Saturday, Nov. 16.
In their most recent event, the Conference of New England Championships, the women finished second behind Suffolk University, totaling 67 points. In last year's regional event, the Hawks finished 17
th, a mark they will look to improve this Saturday.
The Hawks will be led by Graduate Student
Caitlin Boufford (Londonderry, N.H.), who has paced the women all season. In her most recent event at the CNE Championships, Boufford set a new personal best time of 22:33.4, finishing sixth in the process, securing her All-Conference status. Her best finish of the season came at the James Earley Invitational, where she finished seventh with a time of 18:55.5 in the 5K.
Brittney Martin (Potsdam, N.Y.) and
Katie Flaherty (West Hartford, Conn.) will also be racing at regionals, both of which secured All-Conference Honors on Nov. 2 alongside Boufford. Martin ran a personal best 22:53.7, placing sixth in the event. Flaherty also ran a personal best the CNE Championships, with a time of 23:30.7, placing 14
th. In last season's regional, Martin finished second of the Hawks and 80
th overall, with an average mile time of 6:18.2.
Olivia O'Neil (Westwood, Mass,.) and
Tabitha Didonato will be participating at regionals as well, placing 20
th and 35th respectively at the Conference Championships. O'Neil's 24:16.2 time at the event was a new personal best. As for Didonato, her best time came at the Conn. College Invitational, where she ran a 24:31.3 6K, placing 79
th.
Addie Cook (Park Ridge, Ill.),
Grace Baldwin (Braintree, Mass.) and
Carolyn Narahara (Reading, Mass) will round out the group traveling the regionals. Cook most recently placed 34
th at the Conference Championships, finishing with her second best of the season at 25:05.4. Her personal best came at Conn College on Oct. 19, when she ran a 24:59.2 6K.
Grace Baldwin will be a returner to regionals from the 2023 season, where she ran a 25:29.4. Her best time this season came at the CNE Championships as well, where she placed 27
th, with a time of 24:41.0. Lastly,
Carolyn Narahara most recently placed 18
th at the Conference Championships, good for third amongst the group. Her 24:13.5 time at the event was a new personal best, helping the Hawks claim second place.
