BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams women's swimming team hosted the first day of Tech Sprints on Friday.
At this meet, the Hawks' celebrated six teammates for senior day,
Gabby Carr (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.),
Maggie Carroll (Albany, N.Y.),
Bella Kuzbek (Manitou Springs, Colo.),
Noelle Schneider (Plymouth, Mass.),
Abigail St. Jean (Alexandria, Va.),
Kate Wieler (Bourne, Mass.).
In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the Hawk's Carroll,
Claire Dombrofski (West Hartford, Conn.),
Avery Benigni (Meriden, Conn.), and Wieler claimed the first place finish, starting the meet off on a high, ending with a time of 3:40.28. Next, in the 100 yard breaststroke event, Kuzbek swam for the Hawks', earning another first place finish for the team, having a time of 1:07.90. For the 50 yard backstroke, Carr represented the team, finishing with another first place and a time of 28.67.
Wieler swam for the second time in the 100 yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 44.45 and gaining another win for the Hawks. In the 50 yard butterfly event, the Hawks' Schneider swam to a 25.85, earning a first place finish exactly one second faster than the second place finisher from WPI. Schneider swam again for the Hawks' in the 100 yard backstroke event, finding first yet again with a time of 1:01.68.
For the 200 yard freestyle relay, Schneider, Dombrofski, Benigni, and
Isabel Tahlmore (Narragansett, R.I.) finished ahead of the pack with a time of 1:42.78, earning another win for the team. Next, in the 100 yard butterfly, the Hawks'
Natalie Herl (Rocklin, Cali.) earned a second place finish for Roger Williams, ending with a time of 1:03.37.
In the 50 yard freestyle, the Hawks' claimed the top four spots with Carr finishing in the lead at 24.65. Benigni following in second with a time of 25.49 before Dombrofski and Wieler who finished in 25.80 and 26.14 respectively. Carroll represented the Hawks in the 50 yard breaststroke event, earning a first place finish with a time of 32.86.
For the 100 yard Individual Medley, Schneider earned a second place finish, completing the event with a time of 1:03.14. In the 200 yard freestyle event, Dombrofski swam to a second place finish, finishing in 2:03.98. Lastly, in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the Hawks' Scheider, Kuzbek, Benigni, and Dombrofski earned a first place finish together, finishing with a time of 1:52.34.
The Hawks will travel up to WPI on Saturday, Jan 25th to compete in the second day of the event.
