WORCESTER, MASS. – The Roger Williams women's swimming team hit the road up to WPI on Saturday to compete in the second day of this season's Tech Sprints.
 
Starting the meet off with the 400 yard freestyle relay, the Hawk's Maggie Carroll (Albany, N.Y.), Isabel Tahlmore (Narragansett, R.I.), Claire Dombrofski (West Hartford, Conn.), and Kate Wieler (Bourne, Mass.), competed for the team, earning a second-place finish with a time of 3:43.45. Next in the 500 yard freestyle event, Avery Benigni (Meriden, Conn.) found a third-place finish, completing the event in 5:41.00.
 
In the 100 yard breaststroke, Isabella Kuzbek (Manitou Springs, Colo.) swam to a first-place finish in 1:08.46, just over a second faster than Noelle Schneider (Plymouth, Mass.) who also claimed the second place position for the Hawks. For the 25 yard butterfly, Benigni competed again for the Hawks, earning a second place finish with a time of 12.47.
 
Next in the 50 yard backstroke, Roger Williams' Gabby Carr (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.), came out on top with a first place finish at 28.41. The Hawks' Abigail St. Jean (Alexandria, Va.) finishing just behind her at 28.66. In the 100 yard medley relay event, Schneider, Kuzbek, Benigni, and Dombrofski competed as a team, earning the top spot in the race with a time of 51.72.
 
For the 100 yard freestyle, Wieler represented the team for a second time, earning a second place finish with a time of 55.04. Next, Schneider swam in the 50 yard butterfly event, coming out on top as she did in the preliminaries the day before. St. Jean swam again for the Hawks in the 100 yard backstroke, earning a second place finish with a time of 1:02.67.
 
Carr competed again for the team in the 25 yard freestyle, earning the top spot in the event by finishing in 11.34. In the 200 yard freestyle relay event, the Hawks' Schneider, Benigni, Dombrofski, and Tahlmore finished in third place with a time of 1:43.28.
 
In the 100 yard butterfly, Natalie Herl (Rocklin, Cali.), found a third place finish with a time of 1:02.89. For the 50 yard freestyle, Carr claimed the top spot yet again this meet, finishing in 24.73. Kuzbek represented the Hawks' again in the 50 yard breaststroke, earning a first place finishing with a time of 31.79. The 25 yard backstroke swam by Dombrofski earned the Hawks a third place finish in 14.64.
 
Next, the 100 yard freestyle relay swam by Benigni, Dombrofski, Carroll and Wieler earned the highest placing for the Hawks, a second place finish with a time of 46.52. In the 100 yard individual medley, Schneider earned the third place position, completing the race in 1:04.20. The 200 yard freestyle swam by Dombrofski ended up with a fifth place finish for the Hawks with a time of 2:02.29.
 
Mattie McIntyre (Norton, Mass.) earned the highest placing for the team in the 25 yard breaststroke, coming in at fifth place, with a time of 15.68. In the 400 yard individual medley event, the Hawks' Alexis Gentile (Wayne, N.J.) earned the top spot, finishing the event in 5:09.37, almost 20 seconds before the second place finisher. Lastly, the Hawks' Schneider, Kuzbek, Benigni, and Dombrofski competed in the 200 yard medley relay event, earning the second place position with a time of 1:53.11.
 
This event concludes the team's regular season, Roger Williams will return to competition on Thursday, Feb 13 when they will begin competition at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships.
