CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team competed over the weekend, highlighted by the Hawks top finish at the Women's Atlantic Coast Tournament.
The Hawks compiled 105 points taking 39 in Division A and 66 in Division B. The pairing of Lucy Meagher and Maren Matthews finished with seven first-place finishes over 14 races for the Hawks in Division A, while Tavia Smith, Sophia Litos , and Mackenzie Speece placed second in division B with three finishes at the top of the leaderboard.
The Hawks also took the top spot at the Savin Hill Invite hosted by Boston College with 50 total points between the two divisions. Tristan McDonald and Frankie Sparrow tallied five top finishes, with four coming in the opening four races in Division A, finishing with 17 points. In Division B, Reece Schwartz and Dawson Chambers-Tartaglino combined for 33 points finishing third, while earning a first place finish in race five.
At the Dave Perry Trophy, Parker Moore and Peter Cotoia had 21 points, taking the top spot, finishing with two race wins, while tallying three second-place finishes. Drew Mastovsky and Jancy Grayson finished third with 38 total points, while Jack Roman and Elyssa Franklin earned 50 points with a fifth place finish. Dominik Moncur and Demetry Spinola had 77 points, finishing 11th.
Rounding out the weekend at the Nevins Trophy, the Hawks compiled 121 points, placing 12th overall in the field. In Division A, Oliver Stokke and Carter Sheehan tallied 60 points, finishing 11th in the Division, while tallying two top five placements. Division B, had the Hawks duo of Connor McHugh and Maggie Flemming finish tied for 13th, earning the tiebreaker over Fordham, with 61 points. The Hawks pair took the top spot in the third race in the division.
