BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team was selected to the College Sailing Match Race National Championships, while also seeing Connor McHugh selected to the Open Singlehanded National Championships, as announced Tuesday evening.
McHugh was selected after finishing fourth at the Monotype Trophy for the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championships. McHugh was one of five NEISA selections in the 18-sailor field.
The Hawks also saw Carlos Bermudez de Castro selected for the Match Race National Championship, where he will sail with Drew Mastovsky, Tristan McDonald, and Addyson Fisher. Bermudez de Castro skippered the Hakws to a third-place finish at the NEISA Match Race Championship.
With the pair of selections, the Hawks have seen their most National Championship Selections in nearly two decades.
The Open Singlehanded National Championship will take place on Nov. 8-9 in Norfolk, Va. With Old Dominion hosting, while the Match Race National Championship will take place in St. Petersburg, Fla. hosted by South Florida
