WARREN, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team placed seventh in their latest show hosted by Brown University at Windswept Farm.
The High Point Champion Team was URI which compiled 41 total points, followed by the Reserve High Point Team, Salve Regina, with 34 points. Johnson & Wales finished third with 29 points, and Brown placed fourth ahead of Rhode Island College, Holy Cross, and the Hawks, who rounded out the field in fifth through seventh, respectively.
On the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, Alexandra Macdonald (Norwood, Mass.) placed third in her section, while Mila Weilbaecher (Maryville, Tenn.) placed fifth in section A. Lily Scarth (East Setauket, N.Y.) finished fourth in the Equitation in section B.
On the Limit Equitation over Fences, the Hawks saw both Lindsey Savoie (Tolland, Conn.) and Sarah Strzegowski (Westford, Mass.) placed fifth in their respective sections. At the same time, Emma Gaeckle (Southampton, N.Y.) earned a second-place section in section A of the Limit Equitation on the Flat. Strzegowski finished fourth in Section A, while Gianna Graves (Norwich, Conn.) and Harper Madigan (Saratoga, N.Y.) finished third and fourth respectively in section B.
In the Novice Equtation on the Flat, Sonja Federich (Kennebunk, Maine) finished sixth in section A, while Jessica Quesenberry (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and Nina DeGrandi (Berlin, Conn.) placed fourth and sixth in section B.
"While our competitive expectations did not match our practice from this week. I was pleased with how our athletes stayed positive and supportive of each other," said Head Coach Dirk Fogg.
The Hawks will return to competition on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 9:00 pm at Sunflower Meadows in Tiverton, R.I.
