CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Justin Dickson qualified for the New England Division III Indoor Championships in the Heptathlon finishing in second with 4395 points, while the Roger Williams University Men's Track & Field team finished strong at the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT.
Dickson, finishing at the Lynn Ruddy Invite at Bowdoin, finished the meet in second place, tallying 4395, qualifying for the New England Championships. Dickson finished the 60m hurdles in 9.46, while placing second in the pole vault with a height of 3.65m. He then finished the 1000m in 2:53.73 to finished the event.
At the Gordon Kelly Invite,
Napoleon Suderman finished ninth in the weight throw, throwing a distance of 14.63m. The distance qualified Suderman for Regionals, and set a school record in the event in indoor competition. He is the first weight thrower to qualify for a regional championship.
Griffin Hebert set a personal best and school record in the 60m hurdles, running the event in 8.74, placing third overall in the field, finishing 0.04 seconds off the regional championship pace. In the 200m,
Jacob Ward placed 10
th with a time of 23.99, while
Nathan Labossiere finished in 24.65.
In the men's 400m,
Jon Gladstone posted a solid 52.27 placing third overall, ahead of
Burke Mattey who finished in seventh, with a strong 54.27.
Oliver Polster paced the Hawks in the 600m, finishing in 1:30.86, while teammates
Joshua Soucy and
Dylan Hovey finished in 1:34.00 and 1:37.77 respectively.
Nathan Evans posted a strong 3000m time of 9:09.64, leading a stretch of three straight RWU finishes, with
Colin Czuchra and
Harrison Krause finishing in 9:21.10 and 9:28.63 respectively.
Rounding out the field events,
Sam Bielawa hit a long jump distance of 6.37m, while finishing the triple jump 12.99m, 0.01m away from qualifying. Suderman and
Adams Becerra also posted personal bests in the shot pu with distances of 12.06 and 10.84.
Roger Williams will compete on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Brown Invitational.
