MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Roger Williams University Men's Track & Field team showcased depth across all event groups at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic, recording multiple personal records and strong finishes throughout the meet.
In the field events,
Napoleon Suderman (Winchester, Mass.) led the way with a second-place finish in the hammer throw (47.48m) and added a strong mark in the discus (42.78m).
Enrique Maldonado (Taunton, Mass.) contributed in both the shot put (11.52m) and hammer (42.22m), while
Jordan Kellis (Kennebunk, ME) paced the javelin throw with a mark of 47.03m.
On the track, the Hawks' sprint group delivered multiple personal-best performances.
Justin Rowe (Middlefield, Conn.) led the way with a PR of 52.36 in the 400 meters, while
Jack Bates (Kenne, N.H.) (52.61) and
Adam Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) (55.81) also recorded personal records. In the 200 meters, Rowe (23.12),
Will Hight (Rowley, Mass.) (23.46), and Bates (23.46) each posted personal-best times, highlighting RWU's depth in the sprint events.
In distance competition,
Cole Walker (Cumberland, R.I.) led the Hawks with a 9:24.22 finish in the 3000 meters, while
Gabriel Huff (Ledyard, Conn.) (PR 9:41.57) and
Eli Labell (South Hamilton, Mass.) (9:43.66) followed closely behind. The Hawks also earned a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay (9:06.28) and a top finish in the 4x400 relay (3:45.09).
Roger Williams will look to build on the strong performances and continued progression as the outdoor season continues March 28 at the Corsair Classic in North Dartmouth, MA.
