Dartmouth, Mass. — The Roger Williams University women's track & field team delivered a strong performance at the Corsair Classic hosted by UMass Dartmouth, highlighted by standout performances in multiple events, including a first-place finish in the shot put and a victory in the high jump.
In the 100-meter dash, Amanda Walsh led the way for the Hawks, finishing 12th overall with a time of 13.71 seconds. She was followed by Kaylee Jackson (14.14), Mya D'Antonio (14.20), and Victoria Bettencourt (14.25), while Helimet Laureano-Gomez (14.79) and Ellie Clayton (14.89) rounded out the effort.
In the 200 meters, Olivia O'Neill placed 18th, clocking in at 28.57 seconds, with Tabitha Didonato close behind in 21st at 28.83 seconds. D'Antonio (29.08), Walsh (29.47), Talia Moine (29.77), and Jackson (30.11) also delivered solid times.
The 400 meters saw a top-10 finish from Karsyn Medeiros, who crossed the line seventh in 1:04.29. O'Neill secured 10th place (1:05.29), followed by Moine in 14th (1:06.47).
In the relay events, the 4x100-meter team of Walsh, Natalie Reid, Medeiros, and D'Antonio took fourth place with a time of 52.60 seconds. The 4x400-meter team of Grace Baldwin, Adeline Cook, Katlynn Joseph, and Gabriella Sitzer placed sixth with a time of 4:34.18.
Brittany Martin led the Hawks in the 800 meters, finishing 11th in 2:36.65. Ashley Beck (2:41.89) and Tabitha Klaus (2:42.38) followed closely behind. In the 1500 meters, Martin again led the team, placing ninth in 5:05.47. Didonato finished 11th (5:12.57), while Cook took 20th (5:23.71).
In the 5000 meters, Bree Killion clocked in at 21:37.41, finishing 25th.
The Hawks showed strength in the hurdle events, with Meghan Purcell taking third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.11 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Baldwin placed third (1:09.77), followed by Alexandra Biryukov in fourth (1:11.58) and Madison Zelin in seventh (1:14.06).
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Natalie Forno turned in a fourth-place performance, crossing the line in 12:48.39.
The highlight of the meet came in the field events, where the Hawks secured two event wins. Hailey Garcia dominated the shot put, taking first place with a throw of 12.09 meters (39' 8"). In the high jump, Biryukov claimed first place after clearing 1.51 meters (4' 11.5"), earning 10 points for the team.
Maura Dennis placed seventh in the pole vault, clearing 2.65 meters (8' 8.25"). In the long jump, Bettencourt led the team with a mark of 4.70 meters (15' 5"), finishing 13th overall.
In the throws, Angela West delivered a third-place finish in the javelin, recording a mark of 34.50 meters (113' 2"), while Morgan Ippolito took 11th in the discus with a mark of 27.44 meters (90' 0"). Hannah Limanek led the team in the hammer throw with a mark of 31.70 meters (104' 0"), placing 16th.
