NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams are set to compete on Friday and Saturday at the New England Outdoor Division III Regional Championships.
The Hawks will see 10 student-athletes compete in the event, along with two relay teams on the men's and a pair on the women's side.
On the women's side,
Hailey Garcia will continue her campaign competing in the Shot put on Saturday after resetting the school mark with a throw of 13.17m.
On Friday,
Justin Dickson will begin the men's decathlon with the 100m. Dickson set a program best of 6348 earlier this season at the Silfen Invitational where he also set personal best marks in the 100, long jump, high jump, 110 hurdles, and discus.
Griffin Hebert will compete in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles after posting personal best times in both during the year. His 110 hurdles time of 15.69, at the Sean Collier Invitational, and 400 hurdles time of 56.08, at the CNE Championships. Also competing int the 400 hurdles is
Jack Bielawa who posted a personal best 57.11 at this season's CNE Championships.
In the steeplechase,
Eli Labell will compete in the steeplechase after posting a 10:03.83 time in the event at the CNE Championships.
In field events,
Napoleon Suderman and
Enrique Maldonado will compete in the hammer and discus. Maldonado set a personal best in the hammer throw at the CNE Championships last week, throwing a 46.73m, while posting a distance of 42.83m at the Ocean State Cup. Suderman also has posted personal bests of 47.70m and 48.27m, respectively, in the discus and hammer.
In the men's high jump,
Ronald Nolin posted a jump of 1.95m and will compete after winning the CNE Championship in the event.
Sam Bielawa posted a personal best 14.18m for the event.
In relays, the men's 4x100 will see Hebert,
Jey DeLuca,
Constantine Georgopoulos, and James Rinaldni and
Jon Gladstone,
Jack Bielawa,
Burke Mattey and
Nathan Labossiere in the 4x400.
The women's relay team of
Amanda Walsh,
Natalie Reid,
Karsyn Medeiros, and
Mya D'Antonio will compete in the 4x100, while the 4x400 relay will be ran by
Tab Didonato,
Meghan Pucell,
Angela West, and
Olivia O'Neil.
