BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University wrestling team has been recognized for its outstanding performance both on the mat and in the classroom, with multiple Hawks earning New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) honors for the 2024-2025 season.
Jayden Curley (27-11), Chris Tringali (12-14), Matt Lucas (35-10), Shaun McLaughlin (24-17), Michael Forte (22-11), and Spencer Fetrow (22-7) were all named to the All-NEWA Honorable Mention Team. Also recognized was Jayden Toppan (25-11) as a member of the NEWA All-Rookie Team.
On the academic front, 13 Hawks were selected to the 2024-2025 NEWA All-Academic Team, highlighting the team's dedication to excellence beyond athletics. The honored student-athletes include Curley, Tringali, Lucas, McLaughlin, Forte, Fetrow, Gavin McKenna, Gordon Murray, Matt Castillo, Jack Forte, Dave Ras, Tyrell Newmann, and Josh Nieroda.
The Hawks finished the season with a dual record of 16-9, with an 8-8 record in NEWA duals. The Hawks placed 11th at the NEWA Dual Championships, while also placing 7th at the Regional Championships.
