Men's Soccer Looks For Fourth Staight Title Appearance

BRISTOL, R.I. –
The Roger Williams University Men's Soccer Team opens its season on Friday, Aug. 29 at 3:30 pm when they host Clark on Bayside Field.
 
The Hawks are coming off an 11-7-4 season, going 4-3-2 in conference play, while earning the No. 5 seed in last season's Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament.  The Hawks earned a 3-0 victory over Hartford in the opening round before defeating top-seeded Endicott 3-2 in extra time in the semifinals, making their third straight CNE Championship appearance.
 
The Hawks' return last year's CNE Rookie of the Year Tyler Jastrab, who was responsible for 21 points overall in 22 matches and 19 starts, with seven goals and seven assists. Liam Blaisdell ranked second on the team with 17 points, with seven goals and three assists, while Louis Hawkins, Will Schiffer, and Dylan Thomas also rank in the top five in returners.
 
The Hawks will also look to replace former Defender of the Year Hogan Cain as he went 11-7-2 last season, with 21 starts on the year. Defensively, Brandon Rodrigue and Noah Massotti will stabilize the back end of the defensive formation, while Thomas earned Second Team All-Conference honors playing in the midfield.
 
Head Coach James Greenslit enters his 11th season, posting a career record of 91-61-33 (.581), leading the Hawks and in search of his second conference title during his tenure with the Hawks.
 
CNE play will begin on Friday, Sept. 5, at 4:00 pm at Endicott as the league expands to 11 teams with the addition of Johnson & Wales this season.
 
After rounding out the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 4:00 pm, the CNE Tournament will begin on Saturday, Nov. 1, with the First Round hosted by the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the conference tournament. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds host the CNE Semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The CNE Championship match is scheduled to take place Saturday, Nov. 8 at the highest remaining seed.
