BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team is set to begin its 2025-26 campaign on Saturday, August 30, when the Hawks travel to Boston to take on Simmons.
Coming off a strong 2024-25 season that saw the Hawks post a 14-6 record and advance to the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament Semifinals. Head Coach Barry Gorman returns for his 13th season.
The Hawks return five singles starters from last season, returning Izzy Pecora, who played primarily at No. 2, posting a 9-9 record in singles play last season, and Valentina Abarca, who was slotted in the No. 3 spot, going 15-4. Ella Mancini went 14-4 through the season, while Adriana Palmieri and Gabrielle Petroniro went 13-6 and 11-6, respectively.
With two members of the doubles team not returning this season, graduates Gianna Ferraro and Gracie McCarthy.
The Hawks will be tested early with non-conference road matches against Bridgewater State (Sept. 4) and Clark (Sept. 13), while their home opener is scheduled for Sept. 6 against Wheaton (Mass.). Conference play heats up with a home match against Curry (Sept. 16) and key battles with Endicott (Oct. 8) and Nichols (Oct. 22). RWU will also compete at the Salve Grass Court Tournament on Sept. 25 before closing out the regular season at home against Suffolk (Oct. 25).
The Conference of New England Tournament begins on Oct. 28, with the championship set for Nov. 1.
