Women’s Tennis: Abarca Named CNE Player of the Week for First Time

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Conference of New England (CNE) has awarded weekly awards for the week ending on Sept. 28, naming Valentina Abarca (Riobamba, Ecuador) as the league's Player of the Week for the sport of Women's Tennis.

In the Hawks' lone match of the week, Abarca picked up a No. 1 doubles win with Megan Bache (Westbrook, Conn.) over Emma Miller and Malina Dinis of Western New England, 6-0. In singles action, Abarca also earned a win, battling in a three-set win over Miller at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.

Roger Williams (7-0, 3-0 CNE) will head to Hartford on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 4:00 pm. The Hawks will then face Salve Regina on Thursday, Oct. 2, for a non-conference match ahead of a CNE match with the University of New England on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the RWU Tennis Courts.
