BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Softball team will open the 2026 season in Florida, beginning on Friday, Mar. 6 at 10:00 am against Chatham in Hancock Park. The Hawks will play 10 games in Florida before returning to New England.
The Hawks are led by 16th year Head Coach Joyce Maudie who has made four conference championship appearances with Roger Williams while also coaching three conference Player of the Year award winners. She is joined on staff by returning coaches Orlando Lugo and Jordyn Carpenter as well as newcomers Kylene Pacheco and Heather Sargent.
Roger Williams University returns key experience from the 2025 campaign, as they prep for 2026. Roger Williams brings back Shannon Starratt (Lake George, N.Y.), who was named the CNE Player of the Year in 2025 while also earning NFCA Second Team All-Region Honors for the Hawks, after hitting .386 with a 1.109 OPS in 42 games, with 20 extra base hits and six home runs.
In the circle, the Hawks also return a pair of All-Conference performers, with Raegen Germano (Old Tappan, N.J.) and Kiera Quadros (East Providence, R.I.) earning Second and Third Team recognition, respectively. The Hawks duo posted a 2.74 and 3.02 ERA on the season, while pitching a combined 209.1 innings on the season with a combined 200 strikeouts between the duo.
In the outfield, Lucy Maurao (Holliston, Mass.) returns after earning Third-Team CNE honors, hitting .336 with 39 base hits, 10 extra base hits, and 12 RBIs on the season, starting in 37 games for the Hawks.
Roger Williams will open their season on Friday, Mar. 6 at 10:00 am in Clermont Fla. against Chatham, before facing off against Hope, as they start their season with 10 games in Florida. The Hawks will open up their home slate on Wednesday, Mar. 18, at 3:00 pm before opening CNE action on the road on Saturday, Mar. 28, at Curry.
