NEW LONDON, CT – The Roger Williams University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will begin competition at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College, on Friday in New London, CT.
Day one of the meet will feature Hawks competing across multi-events, distance races, and throwing events.
In the combined events, Justin Dickson (Londonderry, N.H.) will begin the men's decathlon, his first appearance of the season, while Peyton Sullivan (Weymouth, Mass.) and Kaylee Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) will open competition in the women's heptathlon, also competing in their first appearance of the season. Dickson posted a career-best score of 6,348 in the decathlon during the 2025 season at the Silfen Invitational. For Sullivan, she posted a 2,910 at the Silfen in 2025, her first season as a heptathlete. Jackson is making her career debut in the event.
Roger Williams will also have several athletes competing in the distance events throughout the evening. Eli Labell (South Hamilton, Mass.) is set to compete in the elite section of the night steeplechase, while Tate Midora (Marlton, N.J.) and Oliver Polster (Wakefield, Mass.) will run the 800 meters, with season bests of 2:01.88 and 2:03.55 , respectively. Labell ran a career best 10:03.83 in the steeplechase at the CNE Championships in 2025. Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) will compete in the 10,000 meters, while Cole Walker (Cumberland, R.I.) and Kyle Tarpy (Haverhill, Mass.) are entered in the 10,000. Tassey run a career best 29:28.10 at the Sean Collier Invitational in 2025, while Tarpy will be running in the event for the first time. Colin Czuchra (Oxford, Conn.) will run the 5,000 meters for the first time this season, and Nathan Evans (Lincoln, R.I.) is also scheduled to make his season debut in the 5K, running a career best of 15:32.41.
The Hawks will also see strong representation in the throwing events. On the men's side, Napoleon Suderman (Winchester, Mass.), Enrique Maldonado (Taunton, Mass.), and Adams Becerra (Easton, Mass.) will compete in both the hammer throw and discus. In the hammer throw, all three currently rank in the top 10 in the CNE, with Suderman's season best 47.48m leading the squad. Maldonado has a throw of 45.55m, ranking third in the conference, while Becerra sits seventh with a 33.23m mark. In the discus, Suderman sits second in the CNE with a 43.70, while Maldonado has thrown a season best 39.28m. For the women, Avery Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) will compete in the hammer throw, while Angela West (Riverview, Fla.), Morgan Ippolito (Point Pleasant, N.J.), and Emma Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) are set to compete in the discus. Williams has posted a season-best distance of 25.56m. In the women's javelin, West sits ninth nationally with a 41.75m throw ranking second in the conference, with Ippolito posting a throw of 32.25m, and Emma Jackson making her debut in the event.
