WENHAM, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Men's Track and Field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the Conference of New England Outdoor Championship, placing third overall with 103.5 points.
Roger Williams leaned on its distance core and throws group to generate the bulk of its scoring, highlighted by Nathan Tassey, who accounted for 18 points individually. Tassey captured the 5,000-meter title in 14:29.85 and added an eight-point performance with a second-place finish in the 1,500 meters (3:57.20).
The Hawks dominated the steeplechase, adding another 16 points as Nathan Evans won the event in 9:46.87, while Eli Labell followed with a third-place finish in 9:57.39.
In the field, Justin Dickson turned in a meet-winning performance in the javelin, earning 10 points with a throw of 55.46 meters. Dickson also contributed across multiple events, including scoring in the pole vault and competing in the hurdles.
The throws unit continued to add key points, with Enrique Maldonado placing second in the hammer (44.62m) for eight points and Napoleon Suderman finishing third (44.32m) while also scoring in the discus with a runner-up finish (42.29m).
On the track, the Hawks showed depth in the sprints, with Jon Gladstone (5th, 400m – 51.10) and Justin Rowe (6th, 51.34) both scoring, while Jack Bates added points in both the 200 meters and 400 meters.
Relay performances also factored into the team total, as Roger Williams placed fifth in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, combining for eight points.
