BRISTOL, R.I. - The RWU Women's Lacrosse team scored at least 17 goals for the seventh-straight game, posting an 18-6 road victory over Salve Regina University Monday. Senior Libby Stout (Concord, Mass.) posted a game-high four goals in the win.
Stout tallied the game's first goal 4:01 into the contest before the Hawks rattled off the next six goals, including back-to-back markers by junior Natasha Billie (Point Pleasant, N.J.). Salve Regina's Erika Curtin snapped the Hawks scoring streak at 12:31, but RWU responded with four straight to widen the margin to 10 at 11-1. The two teams entered the break, 12-3.
The Seahawks scored three of the first four goals in the second half, but needed nearly 15 minutes to do so. With the score now 13-6, Stout scored back-to-back goals to start the Hawks' five-goal scoring streak to end the game at 18-6.
RWU doubled the Seahawks' shot total (36-18) and draw control total (16-8) in the contest. The Salve Regina goalkeepers recorded 13 saves in the contest between Sarah Baker and Natalie Balletta. RWU junior Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.) made nine saves in 60 minutes.
Sophomore Lauren Ferri (Northport, N.Y.) led RWU with three assists, in addition to two goals, four ground balls and four draw controls. Meanwhile six different Seahawks all posted one unassisted goal in the game. Curin registered a game-high six ground balls.
RWU returns to action tomorrow, traveling to Curry for a 6 p.m. contest.
