Second-half comeback helps Hawks to TCCC win

BRISTOL, R.I. The Women's Lacrosse team completed a second-half comback to defeat The Commonwealth Coast Conference host Curry College, 14-11, Tuesday night. Sophomore Lauren Ferri (Northport, N.Y.) tallied a game-high four assists in the win.

Down 8-6 at halftime, RWU rallied to score eight goals in the final 30 minutes, while holding Curry to just three goals. Reigning TCCC Defensive Player of the Week Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.) posted 15 saves in the game, helping RWU to its eighth-straight win.

Curry goalkeepers Kerry Shaw and Maria Lynch split time between the pipes, allowing three and four goals, respectively.

Three Hawks recorded three goals during the game, including senior Jacki Criss (Westwood, Mass.) who led RWU with six points. Freshman Danica Delia (Norwalk, Conn.) and sophomore Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.) also registered three goals on the night. 

Ashley Hansbury led Curry with six goals along with one assist, while Rachel Robichad contributed five points on two goals and three assists.

Curry falls to 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the TCCC with the loss. RWU improves to 12-2 and 7-1. Both teams return to action Saturday with Curry travelling to Endicott College and RWU hosting Gordon College.
