Box Score

BRISTOL, R.I.- Junior Kasey Beckwith (Franklin, Conn.) tallied a game-high seven points Tuesday, helping the second-seeded Hawks Women's Lacrosse team to a 21-8 Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinal victory over the visiting Nor'Easters of the University of New England.

Holding onto a three-goal lead with nearly four minutes gone in the second half, the Hawks took over, scoring the game's next eight goals, all within 10:16 and leaving UNE with fewer than 15 minutes left in regulation to respond.

Freshman Jessy Dvorak (Windsor, Conn.) snapped the Hawks scoring streak at 14:48, but it would serve as the Nor'Easters final goal of the second half. Hawks' Lauren Ferri (Northport, N.Y.) assisted on the team's next two goals before Beckwith finished off the scoring at 1:37.

A much tighter first half began with RWU senior Libby Stout (Concord, Mass.) opening the scoring 47 seconds after the first whistle. Reigning TCCC Offensive Player of the Week Jackie Criss (Westwood, Mass.) scored her first of four goals at 26:10 before junior Mallory Long (Lewiston, Maine) put UNE on the board 1:39 later.

After another goal by Stout, back-to-back UNE goals tied the game at 3-3 with 16:53 remaining in the half. RWU registered three straight goals before and after a Kate McCarter goal for UNE, leading to a 9-4 edge. The resilient Nor'Easters continued to fight, scoring two goals 27 seconds apart and nearly entered the half down three before Criss scored a free-position goal just 35 seconds before the break.

Both goalkeepers made strong saves in the contest, with UNE sophomore Tara Garaghty (Barrington, R.I.) totaling 10 in 60 minutes, while RWU junior Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.) notched eight.

The Hawks move on in the playoffs, hosting Curry College Thursday in a 4 p.m. contest. Curry, the tournament's seventh seed, upset No. 3 seed Western New England College, 11-10. RWU defeated Curry 14-11 in the previous match-up, April 21st.
