Fourth-straight win for Women's Lacrosse

NEW LONDON, N.H. –
The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team defeated Colby-Sawyer College, 14-4 on a chilly and gusty Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while Colby-Sawyer dips to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in TCCC play.

 

Roger Williams was in control from the opening draw as they rattled off nine unanswered goals in the first half. Sophomore Danica Delia (Norwalk, Conn.) scored three times in the first 30 minutes, while senior Kasey Beckwith (Franklin, Conn.) and junior Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) added two goals apiece.

Senior Natasha Billie (Point Pleasant, NJ.) and junior Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.) were responsible for the two other Roger Williams tallies.

 

The second half was played evenly as Roger Williams scored five times, while the Chargers were able to fire four past the goaltender.

 

After the Hawks opened the second frame with two scores, the Chargers tallied four out of the next five goals. Sophomore Brittney Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) added to her team-leading goal total with two more tallies today. Juniors Katherine Lee (Clinton, N.Y.) and Deb MacEachern (Billerica, Mass.) each added a goal.

 

Senior Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.) made 18 saves in the victory for Roger Williams. Delia finished with a game-high four goals, while Beckwith and Halliday finished with three tallies apiece.

 

The Chargers travel to Endicott, who is unbeaten in TCCC action, on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm start. Roger Williams travels to Anna Maria on Tuesday. Game time is at 7:00 pm under the lights.
