Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – Endicott College spoiled the Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team's Senior Day with an 18-8 win over the Hawks Saturday afternoon.
Endicott (8-4) remains undefeated in the Commonwealth Coast Conference at 5-0 and in a tie for first place. Roger Williams drops to 3-3 in the CCC and 5-10 overall.
Prior to the game, Roger Williams seniors Danica Delia (Norwalk, Conn.) and Britany Sweet (Hamden, Connecticut) were honored for their dedication and commitment to the RWU Women's Lacrosse program.
In the game, Endicott grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals by Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) and Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) in the first ten minutes of the game. Kristen Pingree (Georgetown, Mass.) took a pass from Danica Delia in the 15th minute and fired in the Hawks first goal of the game.
Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.) and Delia traded goals for each team, allowing the Gulls to maintain a one-score lead. Endicott would then score four straight goals over a six-minute, two of which by Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) to stretch the lead to five. Danielle Neagle (Avon, Conn.) and Sweet scored for the Hawks in the final 1:16 of the game to pull within three make it a 7-4 game going into halftime.
Pingree and Samantha Davenport (Bethel, Conn.) opened up the second half with scores for the Hawks to bring RWU within one. However, Endicott rallied off five straight goals to take a 12-6 lead. Pingree stopped the Gull run with a goal at the 19:35 mark, yet Murphy, Todd, Davis, and Siri Mason (Williamstown, Mass.) each put in a goal for a commanding 16-7 lead. After a Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) goal for RWU, Endicott would score twice in the final five minutes to put the stamp on the win.
DeShaw finished with a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists. Davis and Todd each scored four times in the game, with Todd adding two assists. Murphy finished with four points on three goals and an assist. Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) notched the win, making 11 saves in the game.
Pingree led the Hawks with three goals in the game. Rahilly added two assists for RWU, while Jessica Searl (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished with four draw controls and a caused turnover. Justine Sullivan (Norwell, Mass.) stopped a season-high 18 shots in the game.
Roger Williams wraps up the regular season next Saturday at Gordon, while Endicott hosts the University of New England on Tuesday.
