WENHAM, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse suffered a 20-9 setback to Gordon College Saturday afternoon in the Hawks final regular season game.
Gordon scored two quick goals before Danica Delia (Norwalk , Conn.) and Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) combined for three straight scores to take a 3-2 lead. The Fighting Scots answered with three goals of their own before Samantha Davenport (Bethel, Conn.) and Dana Wilfahrt (Hamilton, Mass.) each scored two knot the game at five.
Gordon would then go on to close out the half on an 8-0 run to pull away from the Hawks and take a 13-5 lead. The Hawks opened the scored half with goals by Machette and Jessica Searl (Glastonbury, Conn.) before a 7-0 Fighting Scot run put Gordon on top 19-7 and put the game out of the Hawks reach.
Delia and Machette each finished with two goals for the Hawks. Searl added a goal and three draw controls, along with two caused turnovers. Justine Sullivan (Norwell, Mass.) took the loss, giving making nine saves in the game.
Roger Williams (5-11, 3-4 CCC) will open Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament play next Saturday.
