Babson too much for Women’s Lacrosse

BRISTOLR.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team struggled to find their rhythm versus the Beavers of Babson College.  The Beavers outscored the Hawks 17-9 to improve their overall record to 7-3 while the Hawks overall record drops to 2-4.

The Beavers were paced by a trio of scorers that were led by Misha Beatty with 7 goals, Jameson Spang added 4 goals, and Rachel Secrist chipped in with a three.  Taylor Kralovenec led the Beavers with 4 assist and netted two goals to finish second on the team in points.

Kristin Pingree was the high scorer for the Hawks with three goals and six Hawks each added a goal including: Kelsey Rahilly, Samantha Davenport, Devin Machette, Danielle Neagle, Jessica Searl, and Makenzie Logan.

Babson took control of the match early scoring the three goals before the Hawks netted their first goal on a free position shot at 21:47.   Babson answered with a second three goal run that to put the contest at 6-1.  Machette and Searl scored the next two goals for the Hawks to cut the lead to 3-6.  Babson kept up the pressure answering with two more to goals to rebuild the lead to 3-8 before Davenport found the net at 9:56 in the first half.  The Beavers added a second two goal run to put the game 4-10 before Pingree answered at 5:58.  Beatty and Pingree traded goals to end the half and bring the goal count to 6-11.

Babson turned up the pressure to open the second half pouring in six unanswered goals and dominating possession for the first twenty minutes.  The Hawks closed the match with the last thee score to bring the total to 9-17.

Babson returns to Wellesley, Mass. on Saturday, March 30th to take on Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.  The Hawks are back at Bayside Field Wednesday, March 27th to open Commonwealth Coast Conference action versus the Bison of Nichols College at 7:00 p.m.
