Women's Lacrosse unplug the Chargers

Box Score

BRISTOLR.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse pressured the ball on the entire field to gain a 32-12 advantage in shots in route to a 16-2 victory of Colby-Sawyer.  The Hawks improve to 2-3 and the Chargers drop to 0-2.  Kelsey Rahilly (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) led all with 7 points tallying 2 goals and 5 assists.

The first half opened slowly with each team swapping possession until the Hawks Devin Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) fed Rahilly in front of the goal at 16:49.  Rahilly assisted on the next three goals finding Jessica Searl (Glastonbury, Conn.) at 15:36 and 13:44 and then Samantha Davenport (Bethel, Conn.) at 9:39.  Searl would then become the set up person on the next score getting Lauren Piotrowski (Wakefield, Mass.) involved with 8:14 to play.  Machette dished to Kristen Pingree (Georgetown, Mass.) with 4:13 for the Hawks sixth goal before the Chargers would answer on a free position shot at 2:13 by Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, Maine).

The Hawks opened the second half with five goals before the Chargers would find the net.  Rahilly found  Searl for their third connection of the day at 28:02.  Pingree picked up her first assist on a Rahilly score at 24:55.  Danielle Neagle (Avon, Conn.) found net on a free position shot at 22:20 followed by two more scores by Pingree.  The Chargers answered with 9:21 for their final score when Allyson Redden (Dover, N.H.) hit Carly Baker (Beverly, Mass.).  The Hawks finished the game with another five goal run giving Piotrowski her second score on a free position shot at 8:10, and McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) finishing a Rahilly assist at 6:04, Pingree and Julia MacVane (Hampton Falls, N.H.) connecting with 2:26.  Machette would take matters in to her own hand and finish a couple of unassisted drives at 4:57 and 00:06.

The Hawks held a slight advantage in ground balls 20 to 21 but the Colby-Sawyers goalie saved a few more shots on the day. Kim Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) comes away with the win and 4 saves and Kellie Lender (Ossipee, N.H) takes the loss while stopping six shots.

Colby-Sawyer travels to Providence, R.I. to take on Johnson & Wales on Thursday, March 13th for a 4:00 p.m. contest and the Hawks will back in action on Wednesday, March 19th for another 4:00 p.m. start at Bayside Filed on the RWU Campus in Bristol, R.I.
