Women’s Lacrosse tames Leopards on Senior Day

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team remains undefeated in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 19-4 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks held its Senior Day event prior to the game, recognizing Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.), Kelsey Rahilly (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Samantha Davenport (Bethel, Conn.), Andie Krefs
ky (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), and Mackenzie Logan (Sussex, N.J.) for their contributions to the program.

Roger Williams controlled the game throughout, forcing pressure on clearing attempts and moving down the field swiftly for quick goals. The Hawks opened the game with seven unanswered goals. Machette notched four of the first six tallies for RWU, with McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Caitlin Murphy (Londonderry, N.H.) adding the other two goals.

Davenport brought the Hawks to 7-0 before Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) won the following draw and streaked down the field for her 11th goal of the year to put the Leopards on the board.

Yet that would be their sole score in the half, as the Hawks rolled off five straight goals, three from Everding, to close out the first half and hold a commanding 12-1 lead.

Wentworth began the second half with a pair of goals, with Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) and Alissa Cirio (Valhalla, N.Y.) scoring for the Leopards. RWU would come right back, with Leah Osborne (New Fairfield, Conn.) kicking off a 5-0 run for RWU, making it an 18-3 game.

Molly Dufresne (Plaistow, N.H.) added one last score for the Leopards before Davenport tacked on the final goal of the game with just under a minute to play.

Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) earned the win with two saves in the first half. Annie Bartkus (Bedford, Mass.) played the second half and made five stops. Rahilly finished with eight points (2 G, 6 A), while Machette added seven points (4 G, 3 A) and Everding scoring six goals.

Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) had nine saves for the Leopards in the loss. Pacini, Dufresne, Banks, and Cirio each scored once, with Beverly Farris (Palmer, Mass.) adding an assist.
