Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team picked up its second win of Spring Break with a 14-10 win over Emerson College Thursday afternoon.
Caitlin Murphy (Londonderry, N.H.) began the contest with her third goal of the year three minutes into the game. Kate Lemire tied it up with a goal of her own five minutes later before the Hawks came back with back-to-back goals by
Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) and
Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.).
Meredith Weber tallied two more goals for the Lions, but the Hawks closed out the first half with four goals in the final three minutes. Hogan and
McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) each scored twice to put the Hawks on top 7-3 heading into halftime.
The Lions opened the second half on fire, scoring three straight goals over the first three minutes of the period to pull within one. However, the Hawks came back with three of their own by Hogan, Everding, and
Paige Byrne (Clifton Park, N.Y.) to build the lead back to four.
Emerson would score a pair of goals with just under 19 minutes left, but RWU came back with three more goals to keep the Lions at bay. Emerson would score two of the final three goals but RWU still came away with the win.
Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made 11 saves for RWU in the win. Hogan finished with six goals while Everding scored four times and Stoeppel adding three points (2 G, 1 A).
Roger Williams (3-0) returns home to Rhode Island and will host Bates on Wednesday.
