Women's Lacrosse routs Wentworth

Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team rolled to a 21-3 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday afternoon at Sweeney Field.
 
Roger Williams improves to 5-3 and 1-0 in conference play, while Wentworth drops to 2-7 and 0-1 against conference opponents.
 
The Hawks were led by eight first-half goals from McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.), setting a new career high for most goals in a game. Everding put the visitors ahead 1:18 into the contest before senior Pam Mudge evened the score at 1-all 2:33 later. From there the Hawks went on a 9-0 run with five of those goals coming from Everding. Mudge ended the run with her second of the game with 8:13 left, however Roger Williams scored the last four goals of the half to lead 14-2.
 
The Hawks' run continued into the second stanza as they scored the next six goals to extend their lead to 20-2.
 
In addition to Everding's eight goals, sophomore Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.) had four goals and four assists, freshman Olivia Jacques (Berlin, Conn.) had two goals and two assists, and sophomore Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.) had four assists. Freshman Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Mass.) won six draw controls and scooped up four ground balls. Freshman Serena Murphy (Brewster, N.Y.) had three caused turnovers.
 
Mudge had two of the three Leopard goals while junior Amanda Dexter (Harvard, Mass.) scored the other Leopard goal. Mudge and freshman Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) each won three draw controls.
 
Junior Kimberly Bok (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made three saves in the win. Senior Hayley Patton (Cranston, R.I.) made 12 saves in just under 48 minutes of work. Freshman Liz Gunning (Fort Solnga, N.Y.) made one save. Roger Williams had advantages in shots (44-9), ground balls (29-11), and draw controls (17-9).
 
Wentworth heads to Western New England on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while Roger Williams returns home to face the University of New England on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
