Women’s Lacrosse grabs another big win

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team picked up another convincing Commonwealth Coast Conference victory, this time defeating the University of New England 19-4 Saturday afternoon.

Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.) notched a free position goal five minutes into the first half to give RWU a 1-0 lead. UNE responded with a goal less than a minute later, with Kimberly Gosselin (Concord, N.H.) finding Olivia Carpenter (Middlebury, Vt.) for the game-tying score.

Roger Williams came back with a 6-0 run spanning the next 13 minutes to take a six-goal lead. McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored four of the six goals over that stretch to help RWU retake the lead.

Korinne Bohunsky (Eliot, Maine) stopped the scoring drought for UNE with a free-position goal with just under 11 minutes left in the half. However, the Hawks came back with another 6-0 run to close out the period, taking a commanding 13-2 lead going into halftime.

The Nor'Easters managed to log two goals of the second half, with Paige St. George (Nashua, N.H.) and Natasha Nary (Dover, N.H.) scoring for UNE. Yet that would be the last goals UNE would get for the rest of the game as the Hawks scored five times in the final ten minutes of play to ease their way to the win.

Hogan finished with eight points (6 G, 2 A) for the Hawks, while Everding added seven points (5 G, 2 A). Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.) contributed five points (2 G, 3 A) and three caused turnovers, while Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) set a new career high with three goals and four assists. Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made four saves in the win.

Nary, Bohunsky, Carpenter, and St. George each scored for UNE in the game. Courtney Kendall (Waltham, Mass.) stopped four shots in the loss.

On Wednesday, Roger Williams will host Western New England, while UNE takes on Gordon.
