Women’s Lacrosse cruises to win

Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. - The Roger Williams University earned its largest win of the season, defeating Nichols College 22-3 Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.
 
The Bison remain winless all-time against the Hawks as Roger Williams leads the series at 13-0.
 
Sophomore Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.) set a new school record with 13 points on six goals and seven assists, to go along with two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls. Junior McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored a game-high six goals, while junior Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) had two saves in the win.
 
Freshman Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) provided five points for the Hawks (4-1-5) while sophomores Paige Byrne (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.) had two goals apiece. Freshmen Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.) and Abby Wollenberg (Farmington, Conn.) also had goals for Roger Williams.
 
The Bison allowed a season-worst 14 goals in the first half before the Hawks rattled off eight more in the second half to improve to 4-0 in CCC-play. The Bison turned the ball over 18 times in the game – 13 of which were caused by the Hawks – compared to just 10 of Roger Williams. The Hawks also picked up 10 more ground balls than the Bison – 24-14.
 
The 22 goals for Roger Williams is a season-high as it has now outscored its conference opponents 77-19 in four games.
 
The Hawks outshot the Bison 35-13 on the game including 23-3 in the first half. The Bison could only muster up five shots – including the three goals – compared to the 30 of the Hawks.
 
Junior Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) scored two goals on the day while sophomore Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) added another to make up the scoring for the Bison. Junior Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) made five saves through the first half and took the loss while sophomore Jacqueline Hogue (North Grafton, Mass.) played the entire second half and made three saves.
 
Next up on Tuesday, Nichols (2-9, 0-3 CCC) will be at Western New England, while Roger Williams (8-3, 4-0 CCC) heads to Gordon.
