Box Score Clermont, FL_ –The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team soared past Westfield State University, 12-6, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game in Clermont, Fla. on Thursday morning.
The Hawks improves to 4-2 overall and Westfield State is now 2-2 on the season
The Hawks jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first period of the contest with three goals scored by
Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, CT), two goals by senior
McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) and one from junior
Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.).
The Owls got on board in the fifth minute of the game. Westfield's freshman Hayley Mate' (Melrose, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal at 10:28 to make it a 6-2 game at the end of the first period.
The Hawks quickly built their lead to 7-2 after Hogan found the back of the net just three minutes into the second period with an assist from Everding.
A foul called on the Owls which then allowed the Owls to add an unassisted goal at 24:20 to make it 8-2.
The Owls scored four more goal, but it wasn't enough to outscore the Hawks who added another four goals to cap their 12-6 victory.
Roger Williams' senior goalkeeper
Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) made 12 saves and allowed six goals in net.
The Hawks are back in Bristol March 22nd, at 7PM to take on Wheaton College in a non-conference match up.
