Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse Team dominated the University of New England in the CCC Semifinal this Tuesday with a final score of 18-6.
Roger Williams (13-3) will face the top-seeded Gulls of Endicott in the CCC Championship Game on Friday. The University of New England ends the year at 8-9.
The Hawks got off to a fast start with a goal by Delana Erickson (Concord, N.H.) at 27:39. Maeve Gillis (Duxbury, Mass.) then took a pass from Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Maine) to put Roger Williams up 2-0 at 24:21 in the first half.
Sarazin made a free position shot to further the Hawks lead at 3-0 at 22:55. The Nor'easters got their first goal of the game at 19:35 by Anna Stowell (Sutton, N.H.) taking a pass from Korinne Bohunsky (Eliot, Maine.).
Roger Williams kept the momentum with 14:19 left in the first half with a goal by
Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.) putting the Hawks up 4-1. The University of New England fought back with a goal by Molly Camelo (Melrose, Mass.) at 13:38.
With 10:07 left in the first half, Erickson took a pass from Ashley Warren (Wilmington, Mass.) to put the score at 5-2. The teams continued going back and forth as Jolena Lampron (Lyman, Maine) scored at 9:26 to give the Nor'easters their third goal. Less than a minute later, Warren scored with an assist from Hogan to put the score at 6-3.
Erickson made her second goal of the game at 4:48 taking a pass from
Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) to add to the Hawk lead. Not 30 seconds later, Erikson scored another goal with an assist from Hogan. Warren made her second goal of the game with three minutes left of the first half taking a pass from Hogan to put the score at 9-3 going into halftime.
Neither team scored early on in the second half until Stoeppel scored a goal with 21:34 left to build the Hawk lead to 11-3. Nearly 20 seconds later, Sarazin scored her second goal of the game with an assist by Hogan for Roger Williams.
The University of New England was able to get their fourth goal of the game at 19:30 with Lampron taking an assist from Mackenzie Millikan (Westfield, Mass.). The Hawks continued to push with another goal by Sarazin taking an assist from
Carly Martin (Scituate, Mass.) to put the score at 13-4.
With 14:32 left in the game, Shayne Rivard (Easton, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal for the Hawks. Lampron then scored her third goal of the game at 12:37 for the Nor'easters taking a pass from Camelo to put the score at 14-5.
Rivard scored her second goal of the game taking an assist from Hogan at 11:23 to take a ten-goal lead. At 6:18, Hogan scored an unassisted goal for the Hawks.
Carly Martin then scored with 3:39 left in the game taking a pass from Hogan and bringing the score to 17-5.
About a minute later, Rivard scored a goal with an assist from Hogan. The University of New England fought back with Lampron scoring her fourth goal of the game with 42 seconds left ending the game with a final score of 18-6.
Erickson led the Hawks with four goals. Hogan had three goals and six assists and Sarazin had three goals and two assists. Lydia Nelson (Center Moriches, N.Y.) had ten saves in the win.
Leading the Nor'easters was Lampron with four goals. Camelo had one goal and one assist while Stowell had one goal. Maritza Nary (Dover, N.H.) had 13 saves in the loss.
