Drain Finishes Regular Season By Securing CCC Player Of The Week

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Madi Drain (Waterboro, Maine) completed the regular season with a career-high seven groundball performance for the Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team, netting Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week of April 25th through May 1st, as it was announced by the conference offices on Monday. In the Hawks' regular season finale, Drain was superb notching two caused turnovers in addition to her groundballs total to help the team polish off their perfect regular season.

Drain is no stranger to conference accolades as she is a three-time All-CCC First Team selection for RWU, with her most recent recognition being announced just last Friday. However, this is the first time she has received a conference weekly award during her time in Bristol. The RWU Women's Lacrosse team as a whole has dominated the weekly awards this season as Drain is the fifth different Hawk to be recognized across six different occasions.

In Roger Williams' 19-6 win over Western New England last Wednesday, Drain scooped a game-high seven ground balls besting her previous highwater mark of six that she recorded as a freshman. She added two caused turnovers making it the fourth occasion this spring that she has forced multiple turnovers.

A pillar on the Hawks defense since stepping foot on campus, Drain has recorded 16 caused turnovers and 24 groundballs this season to rank second and fourth on the roster. She also ended the regular season standing at 17th in the CCC in caused turnovers.
