BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team saw 10 players named to All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Teams with the Hawks also earning a Major Award recognition.
Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.) was named CCC Offensive Player of the Year after tallying 71 points on the season with 55 goals and 16 assists. She was responsible for two game winning goals on the season, along with 13 ground balls and five caused turnovers on the season, while pulling in 152 draw controls.
Joining Cavanaugh on the First Team were teammates
Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and
Kate Shultz (Portsmouth, N.H.).
Beck tallied a team high 93 points on the year, with 57 goals and 36 assists. Beck also added three game winning goals, with 26 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. Shultz registered 27 caused turnovers as the defender also picked up 34 ground balls on the year.
On the Second Team the Hawks saw five named, with
Julia Kelley (Foxborough, Mass.),
Lily Cunningham (Melrose, Mass.),
Brooke McErlain (Hampton, N.H.),
Kimmy Creegan (Ramsey, N.J.), and
Abby Cunningham (Melrose, Mass.).
Kelley tallied 75 points on the year the second highest total on the team with an even 38 goals and 37 assists. She had 13 ground balls and three caused runovers.
Lily Cunningham had 68 points on 56 goals and 12 assists on the season this far, with 29 ground balls, 63 draw controls and 20 turnovers.
McErlain had 35 goals with 29 assists on the year while, recording 64 points on the year as a midfielder. McErlain also has 52 ground balls with 18 caused turnovers and 72 draw controls. Creegan ranked second on the team with 40 ground balls this season and third with 21 caused turnovers, the Hawks defender with 10 goals and three assists.
Abby Cunningham had 16 caused turnovers and 21 ground balls on the season.
Rounding out the Hawks All-CCC Nominees,
Karli Chapin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and
Zoey Cormican (Rochester, N.H.) were named to the All-Conference Third Team. Chapin had 44 points with 23 goals and 21 assists this year, while picking up 19 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. Cormican has appeared in 13 games, starting six with a goals against average of 5.83 per game.
Roger Williams (14-6, 7-1 CCC) will take on Cabrini on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 1 pm down in Middletown, Conn. for the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
