BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Women's Swimming team placed second out of three in Bridgeport on Saturday. The Hawks finished the meet with a score of 432.3, beating third place University of Saint Joseph (CT) who scored a 292.5.
The Hawks sent Avery Watson (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Mattia McIntyre (Norton, Mass.), Avery Benigni (Meriden, Conn.), and Claire Dombrofski (West Hartford, Conn.) to compete in the 400-yard Medley Relay. The team finished in second place with an overall time of 4:49.90.
In the 800-yard Freestyle, Ella Rothberg (Fairfield, Conn.) placed second with a personal-best time of 10:43.16.
In Freestyle events, Dombrofski was back in the pool for the 200-yard and finished third with a time of 2:19.70. Dombrofski also swam the 100-yard Freestyle and finished third with a personal-best time of 1:04.42.
For the Backstroke events, Kendall Noonan (Southington, Conn.) placed second overall in the 100-yard Backstroke with a season-best 1:16.55. Watson was back in the pool for the 200-yard Backstroke and finished second with a personal-best time of 2:42.97.
McIntyre returned the pool for the Hawks in the 100-yard Breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 1:20.95. McIntyre swam again in the 200-yard Breaststroke and finished second with a personal-best time of 2:56.22.
In the 200-yard Butterfly, AvaGrace Zettler (Allendale, N.J.) finished second with a time of 2:35.13, just being Bridgeport's Ceyda Genc. Zettler was back in the pool for the 400-yard Individual Medley, finishing third with a time of 5:33.13.
A first-place finish for the Hawks came in the 50-yard Freestyle, as Benigni posted a personal-best 28.31.
In the 400-yard Freestyle, Alexis Gentile (Wayne, N.J.) posted a season-best 5:05.27 to finished second overall.
In the 100-yard Butterfly, Benigni swam again for the Hawks, finishing second with a personal-best time of 1:10.10.
Another first-place finish for the Hawks came in the 400-meter Freestyle Relay, as Benigni, Isabel Tahlmore (Narragansett, R.I.), Lauren Clark (Trumbull, Conn.), and Zettler posted a time of 3:46.85.
Roger Williams with travel to Wheaton on Saturday, Nov. 21-22 and compete against Eastern Connecticut State University, Wheaton, and Babson.
