NEW LONDON, CONN. — Roger Williams Men's Track & Field turned in a strong performance at the Silfen Invitational, highlighted by a dominant sweep of the decathlon by
Justin Dickson (Londonderry, N.H.).
Dickson won nine out of ten events, including the 100m (11.53), long jump (6.30m), shot put (11.53m), high jump (1.81m), and 400m (52.25), capping the effort with a 4:39.78 in the 1500m to secure first place overall.
In hurdles,
Griffin Hebert (Scarborough, Maine) won the 400m hurdles in 57.71 and placed 5th in the 110m hurdles.
Aleck Isbester also had a strong showing, finishing 2nd in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.68.
Throwers
Napoleon Suderman (Winchester, Mass.) and
Enrique Maldonado delivered key results, placing 2nd and 4th respectively in the discus. Suderman added an 11th-place finish in the hammer throw event while Maldonado followed closely behind in 13th.
Nathan Evans had a breakout run in the 3000m steeplechase elite division, finishing 4th in 9:36.68, earning a national top-50 DIII mark.
The Hawks' 4x100m relay team (Hebert,
Joey Deluca (Holliston, Mass.),
Constantine Georgopoulos,
Jayden Rinaldini) clocked in at 44.78 for a 6th-place finish.
With strong performances across events, the Hawks continue to build momentum heading into their next event at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT in Cambridge, Mass. on Friday, April 18th.
