BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team will begin postseason play when they take on Hartford in the semifinal round of the Conference of New England Tournament on Wednesday.
The Hawks enter the matchup with a 10-6 overall record and finished 8-1 in CNE regular season play, securing the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Roger Williams has been dominant down the stretch, winning games by outscoring opponents 255-154 throughout the duration of the 2025 season.
When the Roger Williams last faced off against Hartford in conference play, we saw Pantano, Shamberger, Terino and Waryas all put away atleast three goals contributing to the final score of 21-11. The Roger Williams Hawks outshot Hartford 49-33 in the match and despite their 12 saves, Hartford's defense couldn't contain RWU's relentless offense, especially on draws, where RWU held a 19-16 edge.
Offensively, Roger Williams has been led by Mia Pantano (Reading, Mass.), who has tallied 54 goals on the season, ranking among the top scorers in the conference. Allie Shamberger (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has also been a major contributor, posting 34 goals and 28 assists for 62 points. Ella Waryas (Foxboro, Mass.) collected 29 goals this season, and Emma Terino (East Meadow, N.Y.) has earned over 50 points. The pair provides so much additional firepower to a balanced Hawks attack and allowing for their high scoring season.
Roger Williams has been dominant in possession this season, anchored by Miranda Hayes (South Burlington, Vt.), who has surpassed a career milestone of 100 draw controls on the season. Defensively, the Hawks have limited opponents to an average of just 6 goals per game during conference play this season, with goalkeeper Zoey Cormican (Rochester, N.H.) anchoring the back line with a save percentage approaching .481.
The semifinal matchup between Roger Williams and Hartford is scheduled for Wednesday at Bayside Field in Bristol, R.I. with the opening draw set for 4:00 PM. The winner of this match will advance on to the CNE Championship match against the winner of the No. 1 Endicott vs No. 4 Nichols College game. The Championship match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Saturday, May 3rd.
